Albany Youth Support Association (AYSA) in collaboration with SCOPE film + media workshops have joined forces to bring a unique and exciting event to the Great Southern…
it’s the Risky Shorts Youth Film Festival.
Risky Shorts is a short film festival for young people 12-25yrs across the Great Southern.
To help set their film ideas in motion, young filmmakers are invited to apply for one of five small grants of $200.00 each to assist them with some of the costs of making a short film.

To celebrate National Youth Week in 2013
youth organisation’s in Albany and the Great Southern have joined forces to bring to you
Albany’s Amazing Race…
but if your not really the racing kind…
you can still be part of the celebrations by taking part in
Behind the Scenes
SCOPE style… come and film the Amazing Race event!
Your footage will then feature in a short film, documenting the Amazing Race event.
An intro to documentary film making workshop will be held on Tue 9th April
at the Museum of Western Australia,
Albany 3.30pm – 5pm
Race day film crew (that’s you) will meet at: 8.30am,
Saturday 13th April at the grassy knoll (in between the library and town hall)
to start filming all the craziness of Albany’s Amazing Race.

EMERGING FILM MAKERS FUND
Make your own movie!
Ever have that itchy feeling that there is a film inside you just waiting to be made?
THEN WAIT NO MORE!
SCOPE are putting out the call for emerging film makers from the ages of 18 – 30 to apply for a $1000 fund
and access to film making equipment to enable them to create the movie.
The film could take any form that you want: documentary, music video clip, short film or animation.
Do not be put off by the application, it is relatively simple!
Do not be put off by the age limit, if you are younger than 18 you can be a part of a group
or collective that has the original applicant between the ages of 18 – 30.

Make Your Own Movie Trailer
Shoot and edit a 2 minute trailer of an imaginary movie with you as the star.
Film-maker Peter Pritchard will guide you through the process of planning and shooting.
Film using a green screen and then with some film magic put characters in any situation.
Peter Pritchard has worked in the film and television industry for nearly 30 years, mostly as an editor, but also as a writer and director. Recently he was editor of the popular children’s television series Lockie Leonard Series2 filmed in Albany and SBS Television documentary series Who Do You Think You Are? Peter is currently working as an Education Officer at the WA Museum, Albany and also teaches media at Great Southern TAFE.
3 x 2hr workshops
Session 1: Script and shoot your trailer
Session 2: Input your camera footage into the computer and start editing
Session 3: Finish editing and export onto your thumb drive.
Also learn some new editing techniques on Final Cut Pro.

MAKE A MOVIE ABOUT “MY PLACE” AND WIN
Western Australia’s own Revelation Perth International Film Festival has launched its own regional film program – Rev on the Road – and film making competition.
In collaboration with ABC Open, Rev on the Road’s film making competition takes place in Albany, Esperance, Pt Hedland and Broome with cash and other prizes of $6,000 in each location.

VJZoo Workshop
The “Painting with Light” workshop is a wonderful idea, and Kat Black and Jasper Cook are just the people to run it – this is a great opportunity!

Details of Workshop
Hands-on workshop to learn Video Painting | VJing | Live Cinema.
Places are limited to a maximum of 12 per workshop to enable sufficient personal one-on-one assistance.
Who is it for?
This workshop is aimed at painters who want to introduce the aspects of movement and time;
film-makers who want to experiment with real-time improvisation and effects,
and any other artists interested in exploring this exciting new medium.

Cost: $25 pp (includes software to keep after the workshop)
VJzoo will be projecting onto the AEC during Art Trail ‘Silhouette‘ project on 28th, 29th, 30th September nightly 7-10pm.
Participants from Saturdays workshop have the opportunity to assist with the nightly ‘Silhouette‘ projections and work with Kat and Jasper.
